Networking Opportunities:
Meet potential clients, make vital contacts and learn from the knowledge of other successful professionals. One of our most popular events, "Business After Hours" provides members an opportunity to meet once a month at various member locations, to informally mix and mingle, have a bite to eat, exchange business cards and grow your client list.
For those businesses too small or based out of their home and cannot hold a regular Business After Hours, the Chamber holds the "Business Extravaganza" every June. For a small fee Chamber members receive booth space where they can promote their business and products/services to literally hundreds of potential clients.
The Chamber's Women's Business Council Committee schedules the "Women's Business Council Luncheons" approximately four per year. They choose topics that focus on professional as well as personal growth.
The WBC Committee also sponsors a yearly Scholarship for $500 for females pursuing an academic degree at a college or university in Indiana. They must also be a resident of Howard County.
Every year the WBC Committee honors women in Howard County who have demonstrated entrepreneurial leadership-women who have demonstrated vision, courage, determination and risk-taking in the organization and operation of a business. They are presented with the "Elizabeth M. Foster Award".
Leads Exchange:
The mission of the Leads Exchange is to formalize a group of Chamber members that meet twice a month building lasting relationships with other businesses within the community. The Leads Exchange creates an opportunity for the members to promote their business' products or services to others in the group in an environment designed to generate "leads" for all participants. The Leads Exchange meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Kokomo Country Club.
Committee & Task Force Meetings:
Additional opportunities to meet business and professional people with similar interests can be found through participation in committee activities.
Special Events:
Chamber membership guarantees you an invitation to our "Ambassadors Golf Outing" held in August of each year. The Chamber Ambassadors have designed this outing for the "pro" and the "hacker". Registration fee includes golf, cart, meals (morning players receive lunch and afternoon players receive dinner), beverages, door prizes and your foursome photograph. The morning and afternoon sessions are run as one tournament and winners are determined after completion of the afternoon session.
The "Annual Red Hot & Wild Kokomo Chili Cookoff" is typically held in February each year and is open to the public. Chamber members trade in their laptops, hard hats and suspenders for aprons and a chopping block and form corporate teams as well as individual entries. The Chili Cookoff is Chili Appreciation Society International sanctioned. This is a fantastic marketing opportunity for the corporate teams!
Our "Annual Meeting" could be considered our most formal event. It is held at the Kokomo Country Club and members enjoy dinner and entertainment. The "Annual Meeting" is held to recognize and thank our Chamber Volunteers.
The Chamber co-sponsors the "New Teachers' Dinner" with Partners In Education and Phi Delta Kappa. This event is designed to provide new teachers information about our community as well as build relationships with our members. The meals for the teachers and their guests is provided at no cost to them due to the generosity of our sponsors. The teachers also receive door prizes provided by Chamber members.
